Good Morning My Confidants!
Yesterday the Three Bears went to the huge annual comic book convention here in Kansas City and it was so nice to be on that adventure together!
RBear was sure excited. I think this is the most excited I've seen him about the Con for quite a while. I mostly went to be with the Husbears, and to take photos, but I did enjoy it.
See, I just don't really collect comic books anymore. They got WAY too expensive these days, and I collected a lot of titles back when, and the comic book industry got sneaky so that you couldn't collect only--say a half dozen--titles a month because they totally interwove titles together so that you had to buy more to understand what was going on.
For instance, there were four Spider-Man titles, and you couldn't collect just one, because chapter one of a story would be in one book, and two in another, and three in another, and four in the final title. So, you had to collect all four titles, and at something like $2.95 to $4.95 a title (depending), making just Spider-Man around $20 a month.
And I won't even get into the X-Titles and how many there were of those.
I kinda broke my heart to stop collecting, but there was the mortgage and food, you know? I don't know how people do it can afford to collect anymore. Maybe that is why people in their 30s still live with their parents (I moved out at 18 and never ever thought about moving back!).
HOWEVER, there are these paperback and hardbound volumes that collect issues together and they are FAR more affordable, so I will look for those, a lot of the time they are on sale.
There are also these hardbound "Omnibuses" that are so cool. They put together issues that go WAY back! I have the first three volumes of The Amazing Spider-Man and just the first volume contains Amazing Fantasy #15 (the very first appearance of Spider-Man); Amazing Spider-Man #1–38, plus Annuals #1–2, and some bonuses!
I need (okay, I want) Fantastic Four volume one and two. They are hard to find. And sadly, I didn't find anything I was hoping to find, and I'm paying for all the walking, but it was The Three Bears together!!
And I got some good photos and the highest point of the day, which brought me tears, was meeting Captain Awareness. The gentleman told me his story of losing his mother to cancer, and he's a kind beautiful soul.
Yesterday was a good day!
Below I share a lot of pictures and I hope you find them fun!
Hope you have fun plans for your Saturday!
And that today is an adventure!
Except I think today I am simply going to rest!
(it was the clock-forward thing last night and I woke up too late to go to church!)
HUGS and more HUGS,
Namaste,
BG "Gentle Ben" Thomas
Captain America and Iron Man
And this is Captain Awareness! The gentleman told me his story of losing his mother to cancer, and what a beautiful man! Inside and out!! He made me cry, and we hugged! A totally worth the entire day moment!
Rouge and Gambit and Batman and Harley Quinn
I don't have a clue, but do you blame me for taking this photo? Is that a version of the Superman "S"? And to the right, that is Nightcrawler. Perhaps the best one I've seen!
Wolverine and Logan/Wolverine in his alter ego of Patch
The Predator! And Bane! (he started to sort of cover his chest in this weird pose and I said, "Hey! Show that chest! You worked your ass off getting in that shape! Don't hide it!" Grinning, he actually thanked me after I took his photo!
I am not sure who this wonderfully creepy guy is (and friend suggested he might be Slender Man) and he even bobbed his hat. He was at least seven feet tall I don't know who the next guy was either, but he was cool!
A wonderful female Loki! Perhaps a variant? This other guy? No clue, but I loved his jacket!
A very slim long-haired Spidey, but I thought he was adorable. And next to him is of course the Miles Morales Spider-Man!
This is the way Cylons are supposed to look! His suit even made Cylon noises!!
And next to him is K-2SO from Rouge One!
Star Wars Emperor and Stormtroopers
Imperial Officer and a I don't know who this other guy was, but he was indeed a space stud. He tried to put his helmet on for the shot and I "wouldn't let" him! LOL! And Kylo Ren!
Driods! And BB-8!
Chicken walker, close to the correct size! I don't know who the female is, but someone suggested "Angewoman." I don't know if they actually meant Angelwoman or not because she apparently comes from "Anime Digimon," which I don't know what that means either....
I didn't know what this is either, but I thought he was so cool! Someone said he comes from Castle in the Sky by Hayao Miyazaki. And then a knight in shining armor. If he was a specific knight, he didn't tell me.
I don't know who this guy was either but he was cool as well! I loved his helmet. The next one--shrug--I am going to guess he is either a Mandalorian or a soldier from Halo.
Not a clue at all on the guy in blue, but yup! I thought he was way cool! Next to him was definitely a Mandalorian. Very impressive.
Who you gonna call??
So much awesomeness.!!
