A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Coffee Shop...!

Good Morning My Confidants

Wow.... Yesterday! Guuuurrrrrl! Let me tell you!!

First, I made a post at a Facebook group yesterday called Coffee Menes. As you can imagine, a lot of people post memes about coffee there. But a surprising not also both pictures of themselves, of course drinking coffee. So I did, holding my gay coffee mug and wishing everybody a happy pride. I got a couple of "likes" which was nice.

Then the doctor's appointment went good and I'm having some follow-up blood work done, but nothing to worry about at this moment.

Next, the car thing worked out well. Of course I stressed over nothing.

When I got home I happened to glance at the group Coffee Memes and was overwhelmed to find dozens and dozens and dozens of people commenting so nicely on my post and hitting the "like" button. As of this morning it's over 350 likes!

And, more sweet comments and you can shake a stick at. I wasn't too sure what might happen because the group had seemed a little.....well..... heterosexual. Especially with as many memes as they're usually are about "God bless" and how "All I need is my coffee and Jesus."

And yet, there were only three or four haters! And at least two of those believed that they were doing it out of love, making sure I knew all the Bible verses that told me about how my behavior would send me to hell. Only one person called me a "pervo."

But what's really amazing is that every one of those people were attacked, and not by me (!), but by the other members of the group. I will admit that one or two tempted me, but I didn't. I knew I was being watched. By the Admins and Moderators and members. They had to be. They had to be curious how I would respond.

I'm proud I responded pretty kindly to everyone of them, wishing them love and telling them I was praying for them that God would open up their heart to his real message of unconditional love.

AND people noticed! I gave a message, and those haters gave a message. And people will remember those messages. And this is why, when people ask me. I am "out." When people ask "we" need Pride Month, that's why. The fact that people can say, "Well why isn't there a Straight Pride?" they are answering their own questions.

Harvey Milk said, “Every gay person must come out,” Milk said. “As difficult as it is, you must tell your immediate family. You must tell your relatives. You must tell your friends if indeed they are your friends. You must tell your neighbors. You must tell the people you work with. You must tell the people in the stores you shop in. And once they realize that we are indeed everywhere, every myth, every lie, every innuendo will be destroyed once and for all. And once you do, you will feel so much better.”

I want to be a symbol of love in the world. I'm not perfect. I make mistakes. I say stupid things. But I like to think that I'm always open to change and to other people's opinions, as long as those opinions aren't bracketed in hate.

My evening was nice, as the Three Bears had dinner at our friend's Will and Tim's place. Pizza and company and "Sweet Tooth"! So good.

And then, OMG, then I came home to find an eBay package containing....OMG! A Gay Bob doll!!! After wanting this guy for 45+ YEARS, he is finally mine! And he's in exquisite condition. His flocked hair perfect. The little green dot on the end of his nose wiped right up! This box is in fairly decent condition, which is really a miracle after all these years (his box is a closet that he "comes out" of! LOL!) He needs a couple snaps on his shirt, I can't do that, not as perfect as I want it done, but I have a couple of friends i can count on to help me out.

This morning I sit outside a gay owned coffee shop called Anchor Island Coffee having a wonderful latte and french toast shaped like a heart. I love it here, I love the owners and the people who work here. One collects dolls and immediately recognized my Gay Bob! Bob got here too late to be blessed by Kansas City's Gay Pride, but he'll get his Gay Blessing by being here

I have a good life. I'm surrounded by good people.

I am so blessed.

And thanks to each and every one of you who I know and care about and who care about me.

What a wonderful life!

Bless you all,

Namasté,

BG "Gentle Ben" Thomas

I'm in that meme group, I make a few happy comments now and then, i share fun memes, never post selfies (not brave or confident enough). BUT-- then you said you have written books, in my favorite genre and that opened up a whole new window! Thanks Ben for everything you share!
