Mozart Ending
You are invited to visit Herr Mozart, a few days after the premiere of the Magic Flute. Herr Mozart is in fine humor and regales us with the joke he just played on Papageno, but he misses his wife Konstanze. He chastises Konstanze, retells his childhood journey through Europe, recalls his mother’s death in Paris, speaks of his overbearing father, and reminisces about his first great love Aloysia Weber. What Herr Mozart does not know, is that he will be dead in less than three months.
Mozart Ending is Mozart in his own words: gossiping, joking, praising, condemning, lamenting, hoping and dreading. Mozart’s letters are the meat and bones of Mozart Ending. They let us gaze into his soul and they illuminate his sublime music.
The life is not enough. The music does not fully satisfy our curiosity. Mozart Ending brings the life and the music together on stage. Experience one evening of Mozart’s life, just weeks before his tragic, early death. Hear the great music as Geoffrey Thomas plays Mozart’s music and plays Mozart the man.
Mozart Ending is available in German and in English.
