Geoffrey Thomas is a fortepianist, harpsichordist, clavichordist and actor. He is the creator of the Theater of Music, a mixture of theater and live performance, of stories and great music. The Theater of Music includes programs about Bach, Handel, Haydn and Mozart.
He has performed the Theater of Music in the Göttingen Handel Festival, the Haydn Festival in Eisenstadt, the Handel House in Halle, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the King’s Lynn Festival, the Cambridge Summer Music Festival, the Bachfest in Freiberg, the Galway Early Music Festival, the Merlin Theater in Budapest, the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe, Bad Krozingen, the Leicester Early Music Festival, the Handel House in Halle the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, the Bologna Festival, the Piccolo Accademia di Montisi the Boulder Bach Festival, the Klosterkonzerte in Maulbronn, and the Neues Theater in Halle.
Acting credits include roles in the films Copying Beethoven and the Steven Spielberg film Munich. Upcoming is a role in the French-language film La Rafle.
Geoffrey has recorded more than ten CD’s for Naxos, Hungaroton, NCA and Harmonia Mundi France. He was the founder and artistic director of the orchestra Budapest Baroque and a student of Nikolaus Harnoncourt. He received three Fulbright grants and a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He has taught at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and the Duquesne School of Music in Pittsburgh.
